Reading Ads |
I'm going to give you some sample ads and rewrite them in
ordinary English. Study the comparison until the meaning clicks. Then check your copy of
RMC and find a similar ad. The similar ads are grouped together and divided into sections
for your convenience. For example, there is an Ad section entitled "Forms for
Qualifiers". All ads in this section are placed by people who want you to send them
proofs of purchase. In exchange for the proofs, they will send you a set number of refund
forms. Another section is called "Forms 4 H/F", which stands for "Forms For
A Handling Fee". Advertisers in this section will send you 20-40 refund forms in
exchange for a handling fee of $1. There are 14 different advertising sections. Here are
some sample ads from different sections:
This refunder wants you to send her
15 refund forms. You can find refund forms in the grocery store on tear pads, in the
newspaper, and on specially marked packages. (Note that forms are different than
coupons. Coupons are used at the checkout for money off the bill. Refund forms are sent
through the mail and require proofs of purchase). You must send her 5 different groups of
forms, consisting of 3 of each kind. In other words, when you see a pad of forms in the
store, take 3. Do that 5 times with different tear pads. Then you'll have 5 sets of 3
alike forms. (Total of 15 forms). When she returns your forms, she'll send you 15
different forms. You must send a long self-addressed stamped envelope with your forms. It
will be used to return your forms. If you want to trade again with this same person, on
the next trade you don't have to send the self-addressed stamped envelope. From then on,
the trades will be made "EPOP", which means each pays own postage. You'll stamp
the envelope addressed to her, and she'll stamp the envelope

The code 2=1 is used for proofs of purchase that have a lower value. Two Disney Toothbrush UPCs will earn you 20 forms. This advertiser also welcomes you to send the seal of quality from Northern napkins, the foil seal from Crystal Light, or the POP symbol from Kool Aid 8 or 12 quart size. You'll get 20 forms for any one of these. You can send up to 2 proofs of purchase to receive a maximum of 40 refund forms. The advertiser doesn't want to send you any more than 40 forms, so don't send her more than 2 proofs of purchase. Send a long self-addressed stamped envelope for your forms to be returned to you. You are welcome to send a list of forms you'd like to have by name.

increase your supply of coupons, this is the type of ad to answer. This person is offering
your 200 coupons for your $1 cash. These coupons are `prepackaged', meaning that you don't
get to select what you'll receive. The advertiser has already bundled the coupons in
groups of 200 and you'll get pot luck. So there is no point
